Privacy Policy

Soroban Path (“the app”) is a soroban (Japanese abacus) learning app from Hiro Apps Shoten, an individual developer (“we” and “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles.

The short version

The app does not collect any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics or tracking. What the app remembers stays on your device.

What stays on your device

Finished lessons, stars, practice history and settings are saved on your device, in the app’s own storage, and none of it is sent to us or to anyone else. If you type a first name for the certificates, that is saved on the device too.

If you delete the app, all of this is deleted with it. Your own device backup (such as iCloud Backup or a computer backup) may still hold a copy, and restoring that backup on another device brings the progress back.

What we do not collect

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. The app only learns whether Premium is active. We never see your payment details or your Apple ID. Premium is a one-time purchase, so there is no subscription to manage. For how Apple handles purchase information, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Practice reminders

Reminders are optional and stay off until you turn them on. They are scheduled on the device as local notifications and nothing is sent to a server. The app asks iOS for permission to send notifications only at that moment. You can turn reminders off in the app, or in your device’s Settings.

Sound and reading aloud

Reading aloud uses your device’s built-in voice, and it works on the device. The app never uses the microphone.

Sharing

A progress report or a certificate (which may include the first name you typed) is shared only when you choose to send it with the iOS share sheet. Where it goes depends on the app you pick there. The app never sends anything by itself.

Children

People of any age can use the app, including children. The app never asks anyone for personal information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example by email, write to us and we will delete it.

Information from Apple

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may give us crash reports and combined usage statistics. These do not include your name or contact details.

If you write to us

If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write. We use it only to answer you, and we delete it if you ask.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling information differently, we will update this page and the date above.
