About this piece
Johann Pachelbel (1653–1706) wrote his Canon and Gigue in D for three violins and basso continuo. In a canon, several voices play the same melody, each one starting a little later than the one before.
The original is in D major (“Canon in D”). Today it is one of the most popular pieces for weddings and graduations.
